Your county, drawn in its own words. Each word map fills the outline of a region with the sayings people actually use there, from Ey up in Yorkshire to Howay on Tyneside, with a numbered key that gives the meaning of every one. Along the bottom sits a local motto or saying, translated too.
There are word maps for Yorkshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Tyne and Wear, Cumbria, Derbyshire, the West Midlands, Norfolk, London (in rhyming slang), Cornwall, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland.
Matching sets of three
Most word maps also come in a set with a letterpress print and a brew colour chart from the same region, all the same size: Yorkshire, Lancashire, Manchester, Scouse (Liverpool), Geordie (Newcastle), Brummie (Birmingham), Cockney (London), Scottish, Welsh, Irish, Northern Irish, Cornish and Norfolk. Cumbria and Derbyshire are sold as single prints.
Every word was checked against at least two independent dialect sources before it went on a print, and anything we could only find in one place was left off.
A word map suits a hallway or living room wall, and makes a thoughtful gift for someone who moved away from home. Printed in the UK on 180gsm lustre paper, from A5 to A2, or framed from A5 to A3. See the whole regional sayings range.
